Alcanada development and goals

The club, owned by the Porsche family, opened for play in 2003. Located in the northeast corner of the island of Mallorca, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the old lighthouse; Alcanada offers an incredible golfing experience and is a must-play course for anyone looking to play golf in Mallorca.

Far from resting on its laurels, Alcanada continues to look for ways to innovate and continually improve the playing experience for golfers playing the course. “To name just a few of the projects we’ve worked on over the last couple of years, we have renovated the course, redesigned the Proshop, and installed the Tagmarshall system on our fleet of buggies to help us ensure a smooth and efficient pace of play” Kristoff Both, Director of Golf.

Alcanada also has a keen focus on sustainability to ensure they offer an environmentally friendly golf experience. Eight beehives with 40,000 bees were introduced in 2020 on land adjacent to the golf course, and the club also uses recycled water to irrigate the course. Chargers for electric cars have been installed in the club car park and the golf buggies are even equipped with solar panels in order to drastically increase their battery life.

“Our goal is always to improve in everything we do at Alcanada, and in 2023, we will continue to invest in ways to reduce our carbon footprint, work with sustainability partners such as The GEO Foundation to gain certifications, and gain insights into how we can continue to move towards being a carbon-neutral club. We are already looking at increasing the number of electric car charging points we offer our golfers, as well as installing solar panels throughout the club.” Kristoff Both, Director of Golf
